Miles per...gulp.

September, 2008 marks the 100th birthday for both the Ford Model-T and General Motors. In light of that milestone and the cost of fuel, here are a couple of interesting factoids from the September, '08 issue of Fast Company...

  • Ford produced more than 15,000,000 Model-T automobiles.

  • The Model-T averaged 21 miles per gallon.

  • The average fuel economy of all new cars in 2007 was 26.7 mpg.

  • In 1908, a gallon of gas cost around $0.18. Adjusted for inflation, that's about $3.90 per gallon.

They also note that GM lost $38.7 billion in 2007. B-B-B-Billion!
